Every December, as Christmas draws near, Lighthouse is blessed by the arrival of a familiar and cherished group — the Friends in Charity from Singapore and Malaysia. Led by Mr Ang Kim Huat and his wife, Madam Tan Saw Teen, this group of about 20 to 25 individuals comes together, united by a shared heart for generosity and service.
For more than ten years, they have returned faithfully to Lighthouse. There is no single benefactor among them; instead, each member contributes according to their means — whether through time, resources, or financial support. What binds them together is not recognition, but a sincere desire to bring joy and dignity to others.
During their visits, they share meals, conversations, laughter, and simple acts of kindness with our clients. These moments, though humble, carry deep meaning. For our clients, their presence is a powerful reminder that they are seen, valued, and remembered. For the Friends in Charity, the smiles they help create are the greatest reward.
